Common questions

My orb isn't moving / Screen Time isn't tracking

Open Settings inside Orby and confirm Screen Time access is granted, and that you've selected at least one app under Monitored Apps. Orby only measures apps you've explicitly chosen.

I can't add a friend

Adding, requesting, and accepting friends requires an active Orby Friends subscription (monthly, annual, or an eligible annual free trial). Your own orb and all personal features remain free regardless.

A friend's request isn't showing up

Make sure you're signed in to iCloud in your device Settings — Orby uses iCloud to sync friend requests and connections. Pull to refresh or reopen the Friends tab.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Manage or cancel anytime in your device Settings, under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting Orby does not cancel a subscription.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. Email us with your Orby code to have your synced profile removed as well. See our Privacy Policy for details.

A friend shows "Hasn't checked in"

It means their phone hasn't sent its number since their day started, so Orby genuinely doesn't know it — and says so rather than showing a number that might be wrong. It usually means they haven't opened Orby today and don't have the Orby widget on their Home or Lock Screen. It does not mean they are hiding anything.

The fix is on their side: adding the Orby widget keeps their number updating without them opening the app at all.

What does "5 apps tracked" mean?

It's how many apps that person has chosen to have Orby measure. Friends see the number, never which apps — Apple keeps the app names on the device and Orby cannot read them. The number is there so that quietly untracking an app is visible rather than silent. You can also be notified when a friend starts tracking fewer apps; the switch is in that friend's card under Notifications.

Scanning a QR code doesn't work

Scanning needs camera access. If you declined it, turn it back on in iOS Settings under Orby. Nothing is photographed or saved — the camera is only used to read the code. You can always type or paste a code instead.
